The Role: The Services Director is a new position within Pathways Vermont’s senior management team. The
organization has undergone exceptional growth in the last decade and anticipates new projects and expanded
geographic range within the next six months. This position will evolve and flex with the organization and the
ideal candidate will be values-driven, comfortable with change and motivated. The position will be based in
Chittenden county, Vermont and support the direct service operations of the organization.


Service Area: Statewide, moderate travel required
Supervisor: Assistant Director


Job Responsibilities:
● Provide direct supervision and support to program leadership (3+ staff)
○ Provide weekly supervision to direct supervisees
○ Participate in development, implementation and oversight of team meetings; attend
program-specific team meetings quarterly
○ Support bi-annual team retreats by assisting with retreat goals, agenda, attendance logistics,
and debrief
○ Support psychiatry staff and nursing team ensuring consistent and high-quality systems and
services across all programs including development and implementation of policy, and
utilization of best practice
● Oversee program operations
○ Ensure fidelity to evidence-based practices in program implementation for Housing First,
Forensic Assertive Community Treatment, Intentional Peer Support, Rapid ReHousing,
Supportive Employment and other best practices
○ Analyze current operational processes and performance, developing or updating policies,
handbooks, manuals, and directives for individual programs when necessary
○ Ensure efficient and effective structures for team compositions, on-call services, service
provision and program training
○ Ensure program’s achieve objectives while maintaining staff morale and high-quality services
○ Represent or designate attendees at meetings with community partners, funders, and grant
administrators
○ Provide back-up and problem solving support for emergency and challenging situations
○ Assist in creation and implementation of program budgets including monthly assessment of
expenditures, savings and expenses
● Participate in quality improvement and program excellence
○ Host bi-annual advisory meetings for Soteria, Community Center and Support Line service
recipients to collect feedback on policies, priorities and service provision
○ Facilitate remembrance spaces for service recipient deaths
○ Oversee utilization of administrative leave for employees accused of staff misconduct or having
experienced a challenging workplace event
○ Attend bi-monthly incident reviews and ensure completion of recommended follow-up and
program improvements
○ Participate in emergency incident reviews following a high-level incident
○ Complete and submit external incident reports to funders and partners
○ Participate in semi-regular audits and oversight activities including Agency Redesignation
(Housing First program), periodic site visits (SSVF, DOC, HUD), Licensing Survey (Soteria House)
and others
● Support, oversee and develop a dynamic, excellent and diverse workforce
○ Participate in the development and facilitation of training to improve service delivery, efficiency,
staff retention, community education, etc.
○ Assist with processes that improve hiring, orientation and training for new employees
○ Participate in provision of staff disciplinary oversight, performance evaluation and improvement
plans
● Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:
● Commitment to Pathways mission of ending homelessness and providing excellent mental health
alternatives
● At least 5 years management, leadership and supervisory experience or comparable schooling
● Background in administration, database management, computer programs (including Microsoft Office
Suite, Google Apps, Electronic Medical Records, Internet browsers, etc.)
● Able to work in a fast paced environment as well as possess strong problem solving skills, work ethic
and computer proficiency
● Strong verbal and written communication skills
● Comfort with rapid growth, thinking out of the box and organizational change
● Excellent interpersonal skills – the ability to network with area service providers, funders, and
community stakeholders.
● Excellent organizational skills
● Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the mission
● Patience, creativity, flexibility, compassion, and sensitivity to persons with disabilities and other
minority populations
● Some evenings and weekends required
● Ability to travel statewide
● Driver’s license, registration, insurance and vehicle required
● Experience with training and public speaking preferred
● Personal experience of homelessness, mental health challenges, incarceration, substance use or other
life challenges considered an asset
Physical Requirements:
● Occasional driving to visit supervisees and teams throughout Vermont; visual acuity to operate a motor
vehicle required.
● Often meeting with persons in the community in inside or outside environments.
● Extending and/or grasping with hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction at times when collecting
paperwork, assisting with applications, completing hand-written forms, etc.
● Ability to ascend and descend stairs occasionally required (in instances when businesses and/or
meeting places do not have an elevator)
● Regular operation of a laptop computer and other office machinery including frequent typing and
extensive reading.
● Frequent oral communication through spoken word for sharing of ideas and giving or receiving detailed
information.


Compensation:
● Full time salaried, exempt
● 35-40 hours a week
● $65,000 – $75,000 (standard matrix utilized in determining starting salary)
