In this interactive training, participants will learn about harm reduction, a person-directed approach utilizing multiple strategies to reduce the negative consequences of risky or harmful behaviors. Together we’ll explore how to meet folks where they are and support them to develop strategies to gain control over areas of their lives that may cause harm. Participants will develop empathy and compassion by reflecting on their own risky or harmful behaviors; investigate the utilization of risky or harmful behaviors as survival tools for managing pain, trauma, and emotional distress; learn about strategies for navigating and decreasing risk and harm; and practice engaging in conversations about the pain and trauma that lead to risky or harmful behaviors.
