Meet Randy, a recently housed Navy Veteran in our Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program. Randy is a born and raised Vermonter who came from a long line of family members who served in the military. After traveling with the Navy for several years, Randy ended up back in Vermont to start his own business. After a long period of success, Randy found himself in a position with no place to stay at the start of last year’s pandemic.
Randy had spent over five months sleeping in hotel rooms, not having the means to secure a permanent home as COVID-19 raged on. Fortunately, a friend recommended Pathways Vermont’s services to Randy and he was able to connect with our SSVF team. Marc, SSVF Team Lead, worked with Randy to maintain his hotel stay while they worked to secure a new home.
“Pathways helped me out right off the bat. They immediately stepped in to help with my temporary living space and support me into this new apartment that I am at. Without their help, I wouldn’t be here.”
Now that Randy is moved into his new home, SSVF service coordinators will continue to support Randy until he feels successfully independent. Randy is enjoying decorating his home and looks forward to rollerblading on the bike path around the corner!
“Things are better now. My service coordinator has been a big help, has really gone way far beyond.”
