Peer Respite

The Pathways Vermont Peer Respite, Rosewood Cottage, is a voluntary, short-term, overnight program that provides community-based emotional support and crisis relief in a home-like environment.

What does the Peer Respite offer?

  • Person-centered with time to reflect and connect with others
  • Relationship-driven peer support informed by lived experience
  • 24-hour staffing in a comfortable 2-bedroom house
  • Homelike environment, privacy, and access to nature

Expanding access to peer respites has been a vision for mental health peer providers in Vermont for many years, and we are grateful for the support provided by the Four Pines Fund to make this vision a reality.

Pathways Vermont will welcome two guests for short stays (up to 7 nights) in a home-like setting in Williston, VT. Rosewood Cottage is a residence for individuals seeking a break from their daily lives and a space for respite and self-care. Individuals might visit Pathways Vermont peer respite for various mental health and wellness needs when they feel that the gravity of their experience requires a retreat.

A guest’s experiences or concerns will be unique to them but may include:

  • Persistent thoughts of death or suicide

  • Numbness or disconnect that is impacting daily living and relationships
  • Worry or feelings of anxiousness that prevent self-care and completion of daily activities
  • Grief or experience of loss that feels too difficult to navigate at home
