Hi – I’m Katie!
“I am a graduate student at Saint Michael’s College, earning my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I have chosen to complete my practicum here at Pathways Community Center! Since starting at PVCC in November, I have enjoyed making connections with many awesome community members and staff.
One thing I really love about Pathways is our mission to provide support through innovative mental health alternatives. In my role, using an intentional peer support approach, allows me to foster relationships with folks at the community center by creating a welcoming environment and being in the present moment with individuals and what they are experiencing here in Burlington. I especially love getting to know people through our special events held on Fridays from 2-4 pm! Playing board games, doing open mic, and singing karaoke are all fun ways of connecting in the community!”
Hi – I’m Hytham!
“My time with the Forensic Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) Team at Pathways Vermont has been an invaluable learning experience that’s provided me with an in-depth look at life after incarceration and the many obstacles individuals face upon societal reentry. I chose to intern with Pathways Vermont with hopes that it would provide me with an opportunity to better understand our local justice system and the intersection between mental health and incarceration; I can confidently say that it’s done that and then some. I look forward to the continued learning and community engagement that this internship has allowed me to experience.”
Hi – I’m Nora!
“I chose to complete my MSW internship at Pathways because of its mission to end homelessness in Vermont and provide mental health resources and support. These topics, which often go hand in hand in someone’s lived experience, are extremely important to me professionally and are particularly important when considering a systems perspective within society. Although I love all of the organization’s guiding core values, respect, warmth, and compassion, as well as community integration and harm reduction, particularly stand out for me and my career. I will forever be grateful for all that my time with Pathways has taught me, and I know that I will continue to carry it with me for years to come as I graduate in May and embark on my professional social work journey.”
