Staff Spotlight – Meet Peter!

Hi – I’m Peter!

I’d describe myself as thoughtful, open, and always eager to learn. I grew up in Connecticut, lived in New York City for the past 30 years, and have spent a lot of time in Vermont over the last five years. Since June, I’ve been living here full-time in the central part of the state.

Outside of work, I enjoy CrossFit, cooking, and spending time with my four-year-old son. Art has also played a big role in my life.

Years ago, I started at art school but quickly realized that while I love art, it’s very hard to be an artist! That realization helped launch my nonprofit career, beginning with working at a museum for film and television.

I’ve been with Pathways Vermont for almost two months now, and I serve as the Director of Operations. My role includes overseeing operations, IT, finance, and property development—and lending a hand wherever I’m needed.

So far, no two days have been the same. There have been plenty of meetings, but also a lot of listening, learning, and taking a fresh look at our systems to find ways to make them more efficient and effective.

What inspires me most about Pathways’ mission is how direct and meaningful the impact is. The need for our services is so visible and urgent—especially here in Vermont. I’ve worked in the nonprofit world throughout my career, but the way Pathways combines housing and mental health support to help people build stability and community really resonates with me.

One thing that’s really stood out in my short time at Pathways is how generous and committed everyone is. From day one, I’ve felt respected and welcomed—and that makes a big impact. It motivates me to show up every day and to keep learning.

Working at Pathways is a new chapter for me. Making the move to Vermont was a big life change and gave me the opportunity to do something different. I’m excited to be here, to contribute, and to help Pathways not only continue the important work we’re doing—but do even more.
